Day 5

This was our first foreign holiday with our drone - yes, of course we brought it! We wanted to get up early this morning and get the sunrise because fun fact: Menorca is the first place in Spain where you see the sunrise. The only problem, Anna decided that the bed was comfier and had a longer lie in as I went to work.

Job done, we had our breakfast before returning to the pool for an exciting day of swimming and tanning. Who knew Day 5 would be such a thrill. It wasn't all boring however as our French neighbours were at it again and Anna nearly fell off her sun lounger when the police arrived! It was just a warning it seemed for now.

As old guests left and new guests arrived, a few pools down became inhabited with a family of 5. For such a small pool and 5 people in it, they must have been really bad at Marco Polo, or they just loved repeating those words over and over and over again. To make matters worse, Anna had closed the door behind her and locked us out of our room. Normally room service would be coming around but due to the police, I guess, this process was delayed so we thought we would just make do until they came. (Disclaimer: Neither of us had shoes out with us and the walk to reception would be dangerously hot on our feet, especially on Anna’s as she looks about starting her OnlyFans feet account.

Struggling with the heat, Anna’s afternoon nap allowed me to catch up on some work I needed to do, and she was revitalised with a cocktail neither of us could pronounce to get us excited for our evening activity. Tonight we would be going to Mahon, apparently named after General Mago Barca, Hannibal’s brother.

Mahon was much bigger and exciting than anything we have seen on the island yet! As we skipped lunch, sightseeing would have to wait until after dinner. The tan must be doing wonders as the waiter asked me if I was Menorcan, but Anna squashed all other theories when she used “oui” instead of “si”.

It was a night of yacht shopping, art viewing and listening to buskers as we walked along the water and up through the town. This was definitely the place to be on the island and we both agreed that we would come back here again - a big thumbs up from us as we are picky about that!

Another fun fact: the Mahon harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world. If you guessed that Pearl Harbour pipped it to the number 1 spot, gold star for you!
