Our body clocks were obviously still adjusting as we all woke up at around 5am. After an hour of chilling in bed, and some rolling and crawling practice for Alexander, we got up to make Alexander a bottle. When Louis passed Aoife, she asked him if he knew what time it was, to which Louis said yes. An earlier start than Aoife expected.

We got dressed and went for a walk around Aoife’s area, Claremont. It was crazy how many others were also up and about at this time. There were people finishing off 18 holes of golf!
We chilled by some picnic tables and had a coffee… all before 8am!

We returned to Aoife’s flat and had some breakfast, scrambled eggs and avocado. The avocado was unreal, even Alexander tried it for the first time and loved it. All this ticked off and it was still morning!

Last night we sat and made a rough itinerary for our holiday. Today we planned to visit the aquarium! We saw lots of different fishes, coral, turtles, stingrays and sharks. They have this cool underwater tunnel to see them all but as soon as we entered Alexander fell asleep. We did wake him up though, he’d be raging if he had missed this.

Afterwards we went for a walk along Hilary’s Harbour and headed to a shop to buy a beach umbrella before spending the afternoon at the ‘City Beach’. It was pretty windy and when Alexander and I entered the water, we were hit by a wave. As you can imagine, that didn’t go down well and Alexander wasn’t impressed, cried and demanded to be taken to dry land for cuddles.

Louis tried to set up our newly bought umbrella but just as he stood back and said there, finished… a huge gust of wind blew the umbrella towards the car park and it hit a car. Thankfully the car was ok, but I did think it was going to smash through a window and impale someone.

Before heading back, we headed for a drink and shared a salad and basket of chips in the beach bar. It was beaut!

Back at the apartment I went to write my blog, but fell asleep instead. Louis wasn’t impressed at this and started to give off and nag me that I need to get writing. It was a lovely nap though I must say. I could have stayed there for the rest of the evening.

I pulled myself together though, we all got showered and rushed to catch a train to Cottesloe for sunset. Some of Aoife’s friends were here and we spent the night chatting to them. The best thing about Australia is that everything and everyone finishes for the night at 9pm. I guess that’s why they can all get up so early in the morning.

Annoyingly, when we went to get the train home we realised that the trains had been replaced with buses for the rest of the evening. Aoife’s friends all ordered taxis but with Alexander and no car seat, we had to make our way back via buses. When we got home, Aoife made us burritos for dinner and by this point the last thing we all needed was another glass of wine, but of course we didn’t want to dehydrate.

Louis was still complaining about my half an hour nap earlier, so I was explaining to both Aoife and him that I don’t think I’ve had a good nights sleep since pre-pregnancy, to which they thought I was being dramatic. I wasn’t.

On that note, it was time for bed. A lovely first day down under.
