Day 3

We both woke up feeling super fresh ready for our first full day at The Syntopia. When I opened my eyes I could see Louis out on the balcony peering over at the pool. He told me there weren’t many sun beds left so he quickly ran down stairs to get the best remaining one. He didn’t get a fancy four poster bed one but he did manage to get the bed closest to the bar so it wasn’t too bad. I know where his priorities are.

We chilled by the pool and watched 2 professional instagram bloggers have a photoshoot. They are called the globbers and are Italian. I must admit, fair play to them. Aren’t we lucky that we are only semi famous bloggers because imagine being forced out of bed every morning, getting dressed into something fancy and posing in the heat for an hour.

After an hour of people watching by the pool we went for breakfast. They had everything and more. Waffles, cereal, pancakes, cooked breakfast, cold meats, cheese, yogurt and fruit. Having watched all these toned, model like figures from the balcony the night before, I thought to myself… hmm maybe have some melon or something healthy, then I caught myself on and was up and down from the breakfast bar like a yoyo. Not as many times as Louis though. He is so impressive with how much he can eat. I did get a few strange looks by the girls who were ‘enjoying’ their muesli and seeds as I walked by with plates full of cubed potatoes and beans. Louis had soooo many eggs I’m expecting him to turn into a protein filled muscle man any day now.

We returned to the pool and wrote our blog. It doesn’t actually take us too long now which is good. And since becoming like a fully grown adult (cough married cough) my grammar has improved significantly. Still grateful for predictive text although it’s bad when the word is highlighted in red with the comment ‘no replacements found’. Good thing I’ve got Louis!

After all my beans, I needed to return to my room. Enough said. On my way I noticed that the rooms beside us that were being cleaned by house cleaning were much smaller than ours. Thankfully ours hadn’t been cleaned yet. Oops.

When I returned poolside, I was telling Louis about it… and about the rooms and it wasn’t until then he realised we had actually been upgraded by the hotel to a suite. I mean I know it’s really only a sofa but it was a lovely gesture by the hotel. Like the cake, we didn’t know whether it was because we were recently married or because we are famous influencers. We’ll never know.

After lunch, again another big feed…we had food coma and were feeling extremely tired due to the heat so we both had a siesta in the afternoon. When we woke up we went for a dander along the beach just in front of the hotel. The waves were so big, it was just like being in the late Lisnagelvin swimming pool. No scary bars with sharks behind it though. Phew!

A quick shower and it was time for dinner. Before dinner there was free wine tasting which was class. We learnt about local wines and tasted a range of colours. My favourite was a Rose from the west of the island, while Louis enjoyed a dry white, similar to a sauvignon blanc. Dinner tonight was asian themed. My dad would have loved it. Not the sort of Chinese dishes us Derry wans like though – half n half we curry sauce, nae onions. More traditional.

Tonight’s entertainment was from a 3 piece band. They were decent enough but not good enough to get everyone up dancing and singing. They were only singing songs released before 2010 too as it probably took them a bit to translate the lyrics. We didn’t mind – I continued to enjoy my endless Prosecco and Louis his Gin before returning to the room and hitting the hay. Goodnight fans x
