Day 1 – Lastminute.com

With being world-renowned travellers, and influential travel bloggers, we always receive a large number of questions when we embark on our adventures. In addition to the popular questions such as ‘When are you doing a tour?’ And ‘What is your favourite type of plug socket?’, we also get asked ‘Why did you pick that destination?’. Great question, Karen from Portsmouth!

For Chapter 6, we’re off to Malta…by accident. Initially we had planned to travel to Morocco or do the Camino Trail in Spain, but after some poor spelling by Anna, we found that the small island of Comino off the coast of Malta was much cheaper.

Our blogs usually start with our departure from home, but this time, we need to travel back in time to give you a bit of context. On Monday night, we were joined by two of our friends for a spot of bowling and some pool, as well as various bottles of wines!! These friends are known to be bad influences and you may remember them as Nicky (who played Nicky in Chapter 3: Ireland) and Aoife (who played friend 1 in Chapter 1: Europe). An entertaining night ended with both of us no closer to being packed or ready to go.

Accompanied by a headache and a sour face, Anna and I crossed the water into town to get the ‘comfy but stylish’ white shorts for her, as well as a bikini and a couple of dresses. It wasn’t like we were leaving in 4hrs. Nevertheless, we were both packed and were ready to leave by the time Boris Johnson took to the podium to address the nation.

Belfast International Airport had opted to become a sauna for the day and having dropped a couple of stone in sweat, we boarded our Ryanair flight to Malta. Despite being priority, we didn’t feel like Ryanair were giving any priority to us at all, as 90% of the plane had also chosen priority.

Edgy camera skills Anna

Having booked an eCab (Malta’s own Uber) to our accommodation for the week, we arrived well past midnight in a very quiet neighbourhood in the North of Malta, known as Mellieha. Our penthouse apartment contained a fire pit, 270 degree views and our very own private outdoor swimming pool. Thanks to Billy and Isa from AirBnb for an amazing place to stay.
