Today we visited Caversham Wildlife Park, just north of Perth. When we arrived, we went straight to see the Koala’s and had a picture with one. It was actually much bigger than I had expected, although still very cute. You could pet it but it had to be with the back of your hand. Not sure why.

Next up was Louis’ favourite, the penguins. We watched them getting fed and were introduced to Skip, the 3rd oldest penguin in the world, at a youthful age of 23 years old.

Kangaroos are a must see when in Australia and we weren’t disappointed. You could walk through an area of the park and feed them if you wanted, mind you they were all pretty stuffed and weren’t up for eating. Some people were petting them but I was a tad scared as when you caught eye contact with them, they looked a bit feisty, especially the ones with babies in the pouches.

There were lots of other animals to wonder round and look at which we did quickly but it was heating up and we were getting hot. Plus, all the animals were hiding in the shade too as it was so hot. Before heading home we stopped by the cafe for a cold drink and treat. Alexander had his first lick of ice lolly and ice cream. I think they were a hit.

We went back to Aoife’s and had a lovely salad for lunch. Weird what the heat does to you - makes you want salad instead of pasta for lunch. Maybe I should start lighting the fire and keep the heat on in the house back home and I’ll crave salad then. Flip, I’ll be a Victoria Secret model by Summer.

After lunch we all headed down to the pool for a quick dip. Alexander much prefers the pool to the sea. I think he is a bit fussy like his Daddy. Oh dear!

For the evening, we headed to Scarborough for their market. Parking was impossible, like Carlisle Road on the Saturday before Christmas. A man waved us down and told us that there were houses nearby that no-one lives in and to park there. There were stalls, a bar which over looked the beach and lots of food trucks. We opted for a drink to watch the sunset and headed to a lovely Thai restaurant after.

Back at the apartment, Aoife and I did a ‘Dairy Milk Challenge’. We had to blind taste test the Irish and Australian chocolate and guess which was which. It was so obvious which was which. Irish Dairy Milk of course won. Nothing beats it.

We all enjoyed an early-ish night and were fast asleep in no time. Night, night! Zzzzzz…
