We woke early, packed up, and said our goodbyes to George, our faithful canine companion over the past few days. Our first stop was a random café for breakfast. We all ordered poached eggs, which, unsurprisingly, weren’t quite right and we only got 2 meals between the 3 of us. While the girls ate, I entertained Alexander until my meal arrived, and then we swapped. Despite the egg mishap, it was a lovely spot.

We then headed on to continue our 3hr drive back to Perth. It’s mad how big Australia really is. Not long into the journey, Alexander experienced his first ‘poonami’. This catastrophic diaper event needed an emergency stop at a petrol station for a full cleanup with poo everywhere from the car seat and up his back. Afterwards, we continued on, stopping once more for even more petrol and coffee.

When we arrived home, we needed to stock the fridge and after a quick and refreshing lunch, we headed to the pool. Aoife practiced her swimming for her big swim and Alexander, now more comfortable in the calm water, enjoyed himself.

Later, I dropped Aoife off at her Rottnest swim briefing, which was packed — a good decision to drop her off rather than trying to find parking. Back home, we got ready, and we took the train to Bib & Tucker for a delightful dinner. Aoife joined us and had all her swim gear and information packs with her, so it was a night of quizzing Aoife before catching the train back home.
